"A quiet part of town, beautiful views of both the ocean and mountains. The owner is very nice and helpful. She took care of everything we needed. A large apartment, cleanliness and comfort come first."

"Mosquitoes at night"

"Patti, the owner, met us at the airport and took us to the property. She charged €10 for this which is very reasonable as it’s a long way and taxis cost twice that. The property is on 2 levels with the owners on the ground floor and the apartment on top accessed by stairs up the side via the front garden. There is a friendly dog that keeps watch for trespassers which is useful because all the doors and windows are always left open to keep cool. The apartment is very well equipped and has a nice terrace. It has one lounger but it would be nice to have more comfortable seating options. Patti is very friendly and helpful but we struggled with the language barrier as we don’t speak Italian or Portuguese. We hired a car (Suzuki Jimny 4x4) from Lopez in Tarrafal (€65/day) - pricey but you really need one to see the island (4x4 is a must - the roads off the main one are terrible!). They allow drop off at the airport which is handy."

"The house gets very warm and has no A/C, just a fan above the bed which works ok but it’s still really hot and the open windows let all the mosquitoes in which area a nightmare. Some mosquito screens on the windows/doors would help. Tarrafal isn’t exactly picture postcard; a sprawling seaside town with lots of half built houses and a small hub of shops/bars/restaurants near the port. The apartment is on the southern edge of town about 10mins walk from centre. It’s not right on the coast so sea views are obstructed and lots of building work around."

"Die Gastgeberin ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit! Ihr Hund Zoe paßt auf und ist wirklich sehr gut erzogen! Die gesamte obere Etage steht zur Verfügung. Die Gastgeberin wohnt im Erdgeschoss. Apartment ist sehr geräumig, liegt etwas abseits und ist ruhig. In 5 Minuten ist man am Stadtstrand, in 3 Minuten am nächsten Strand."
